Instagramable ~ Instagram tauglich | Monday Thoughts ~ Montagsgedanken

23/03/2015 | |

Yesterday, I was on a concert. (Being 5 feet tall on a rock concert is not good. Started in the 5th row, ended up in the 25th or so. Urgh.)
And I didn't notice it just then, but I feel like people live life through their phone.
A lot of people didn't just dance and enjoy the concert. No, they took pictures, they took selfies (and I photobombed all the time - sorry, not sorry!), they took videos.

I am on my phone quite often as well. I text my friends, I go on Instagram, I play games and listen to music. Especially with Instagram, I noticed that people seem to share their life and make it look as instagramable as possible.
But not everything looks or is good in life. There is not a right angle for everything.
I cannot wait for people sharing their life like "I'm just taking out the trash. #trashcanselfie" because I would probably lose all faith in humanity.

I really had a day where I went through Instagram and thought: "Why can't my life be as nice as it looks there? Why can't I do my makeup as good, wear those pretty clothes and after all: Why is my life and why am I not that Instagram-worthy?"
I realized that this was one of the worst and craziest and most stupid thoughts I ever had. People take pictures of moments in a day and we think that they and their lives are perfect. But trust me, they are not! On that note, please don't compare your life to tv shows or movies or books as well. 99,9% are completely unrealistic.
As Hannah Montana sang: Nobody's perfect! (I gotta work it again and again til I get it right...)
And that is fine.

Nowadays it is just about likes and followers and getting sponsored by big brands is a life goal. I mean, it would be nice to get paid or get send free stuff for just sharing pictures, but if that is your dream, re-think it - especially when you're young. Life is sadly not that easy and 10000 followers won't get you that far.

This is not a hating post against Instagram or taking pictures, videos or selfies.
I just want you to know that maybe, not worrying about the right angle and likes may lead you to a happier life.

Enjoy life. Enjoy the small moments. Don't beat yourself up about not having thousands of followers. There are more important things than Instagram.

But you can still follow me there if you'd like! @iaminvisabel

And I gave myself a serious Hannah Montana earworm right now. Thanks, Isabel.

~

(I gotta work it again and again til I get it right...)

Danke, Isabel.
